Mobile ECU remapping removes the need to book a day off and drive to a workshop. Our engineer comes to you with professional Alientech and Autotuner equipment, carries out the full session on site, and hands the vehicle back calibrated and documented. If you have booked a Stage 1 remap, here is what the day looks like from start to finish.
Before We Arrive
When you book online, you choose a date, time slot and location. We confirm your vehicle details and send a reminder ahead of the appointment.
On the day, ensure the vehicle is parked on level ground with enough space to open doors and access the OBD port. The fuel tank should be at least a quarter full. If you have any known fault lights or recent repairs, mention them when booking so we allow extra diagnostic time.
Arrival and Vehicle Check (15 minutes)
Our engineer introduces themselves, confirms the registration and service booked, and carries out a visual inspection. Tyre condition, obvious leaks and dashboard warnings are noted before any software work begins.
You will be asked to confirm the vehicle is insured and that you are aware remapping should be declared to your insurer. We keep the process transparent from the first minute.
Diagnostic Health Check (20 to 30 minutes)
We connect diagnostic equipment to the OBD port and scan for stored and pending fault codes. Live data streams are reviewed: coolant temperature, boost pressure, fuel trims and DPF status on diesels.
If a serious fault is found, we pause and discuss options. We do not write performance software onto an engine with unresolved problems that could cause damage under increased load.
Factory Map Backup (10 minutes)
Your original ECU file is read and stored securely on our server before any calibration is applied. This backup means stock settings can be restored at any point in the future, whether for warranty, resale or personal preference.
Calibration and Flash (30 to 45 minutes)
The custom map is written to the ECU using manufacturer-appropriate protocols. During this stage the ignition stays off and the battery is maintained with a stabilised power supply to prevent voltage drop mid-flash.
For most Stage 1 car remaps, the total on-site time from arrival to completion is between 90 minutes and two hours. TCU gearbox remaps or combined engine and transmission sessions may take longer.
Post-Remap Testing and Handover (15 minutes)
After the flash, we clear adaptation values where required and carry out a static verification. You are invited to start the engine and confirm normal idle behaviour before a brief road test if location permits.
We explain how the vehicle may feel during the first 50 to 100 miles as adaptations settle. A smoother throttle and stronger mid-range torque are typical immediately.

Aftercare Tips
Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature before demanding full throttle. Check oil and coolant levels regularly as you would with any performance vehicle. If anything feels unusual, contact us directly rather than visiting a generic garage first.
